Growing up

Emily was born in Aberdeen on 20 November 2003.  She was born with lots of hair and determination. Her brother Duncan was born six days before her second birthday.  When she was three years old, we moved to Oman, where she lived until nearly nine years old. Oman is a wonderful place, particularly for children. Beach life; wild camping in the desert; watching turtles’ nest; an outdoor life; friends and sunshine. Her little sister Natalie was born in Oman. In July 2012, we moved to The Netherlands. It was Emily’s home a wonderful place to grow up.

About Emily

Emily had a great sense of humour and was always enthusiastic about whatever was thrown in her way.  She had a busy life playing hockey for MHC Forescate, performing in school plays, a member of the school Eco club, a member of the choir.  She loved people, getting involved and being part of the community.  Emily cared about what was happening in the world and was always happy to share her views and opinions.  She understood the importance of family and friends, always enthusiastic to visit family in the holidays and invest time in her friendships.  She loved active family holidays, surfing, hiking and skiing. Emily was an avid reader and a huge Harry Potter fan. She loved nothing more than having a Lush bath bomb, followed by curling up with her favourite Harry Potter book, ‘The Order of the Phoenix.’ and devouring a bar of Dairy Milk chocolate. She played the piano, loved art and was a great cake decorator. If anyone asked Emily what she thought about something she would almost always reply ‘It’s so fun!’

"To have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever. But know this; the ones that love us never really leave us."  Quote by Dumbledore from Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. JK Rowling
